Vintage & handmade festival at RAF Cosford & loaded fries recipe

On the 7th of May, my friends and I visited a really lovely festival at RAF Cosford, that was vintage themed with lots of handmade crafts stalls too.

The day started with a journey from the car park to the festival on a vintage bus from 1957 - the fabric patterns were amazing

BUT the highlight for me was the food. It was TO DIE FOR! We forgot to take photos, but I had cauliflower cheese chilli bites, loaded fries with charcoal salt, from Wild Street Kitchen & honeycomb ice cream and Aspall's cyder from The Fire Bar - yum

I love trawling through handmade markets because you get an appreciation of how talented people are! As this one was vintage themed, we saw alot of textile crafts and some of the most beautiful 40's tea dresses. My favourite brands are Hell Bunny and Silly Old Sea Dog

We had a stroll around the museum after we'd had our fill of the baking sun, and it was so interesting. One of the lads in our group (you know who you are) fancies himself as a pilot, so we spent quite a bit of time here, and adventured up to the viewing point for a bird's eye view.

Before we headed home, we got comfy on the grass to watch a fly-over of a Spitfire. I highly recommend a visit if you've not been yet, see you there next year!

Loaded fries Recipe

You'll need:

Super easy to make, and super delicious! You can use whatever brands you prefer, I've tagged my favourites above ^ And of course, you can make fries yourself if you fancy it, I prefer to use frozen ones for the convenience.

  1. Pre-heat your oven to whatever temp suggested on your fries packaging. While it heats up add your fries to a baking sheet, and lightly spray them with your fry light oil spray, I like the olive oil one, then sprinkle over some dried basil, and seaon with salt and pepper.

  2. Put them in your oven and remember to set a timer so you can turn them over when they're halfway done.

  3. While they're cooking, add about 4 tbsp of mayo to a small bowl. Then using a garlic crusher, add 2 cloves of crushed garlic to the mayo and mix well. Pop into a small food bag and put in the fridge until your fries are done.

  4. When your fries are cooked, dish them up into your bowl, and grab your garlic aioli from the fridge, snip 1 corner from the bag and use this to squeeze your mayo all over the top of your fries.

  5. Top this with a generous squirt of chilli sauce, and a good sprinkling of charcoal salt

  6. Enjoy!
